History

THE 80S

THE BEGINNING OF BEGINNINGS

1978 – 1981 - Henri Beck, an art critic and TV decorator, was inspired by the idea of creating his own furniture brand and in 1981 officially launched the MODENATURE brand, which later became the most authentic French House of good taste.

Throughout the 80s, MODENATURE slowly developed, Henri scrupulously perfected the style and spirit of the brand, developing its timeless aesthetics. The brand gradually gained popularity and, a few years after its launch, opened the doors of the first showroom on the left bank of the Seine at Rue Jacob in the expensive and luxurious Saint-Germain-des-Prés district.

90's

THE RISE OF POPULARITY

The 90s became a time of rapid growth and international recognition of Modenature by the design community: constant participation in the best European exhibitions of Maison&Objet, IMM Cologne, iSaloni, the opening of the second showroom in Paris and the first in Milan, participation in large private and public projects strengthened the position of the brand and its founder Henri Beck. One of the landmark projects in the history of Modenature has become fully staffed

LATE 90'S – EARLY 2000'S

JAPAN

Henri Beck was so inspired by his trip and work in Japan that over the next three years he developed collections based on Japanese design principles – conciseness, closeness to nature, depth – such design brings peace and tranquility. At the same time, he continued the traditions of French luxury and Art de Vivre, inherent in the house from the very beginning.

Frédéric Beigbeder testified to the status and value of the French house in his sensational book “99 francs”, describing a typical Parisian dandy, whose apartment, among other things, should have: “... a drawing by David Hockney; a poster by Jean Cocteau; a MODENATURE coffee table in ebony; several originals by Pierre Le Tan, Edmond Kir, René Gruau...”

At the same time, the company’s geography was expanding – new showrooms were opening in all the major cities of the world – from New York to Tokyo, neighboring with the big names Promemoria, Christian Liagre, Minotti and fruitfully working until the beginning of the 2010s.

2013 - 2016

TRANSITIONAL PERIOD

In 2013, Henri Beck decided to retire and sold the company to major investors who were unable to maintain the overall spirit and aesthetics of MODENATURE. The brand changed hands over the course of several years, and at the end of 2015, it was bought by Russian entrepreneur and investor Rustam Chingariev.

2017- PRESENT

RENAISSANCE

Developing and expanding the brand, in 2017 Rustam invited his friend, designer Mark De Berni, to create a special line for MODENATURE, which was to become a new stage in the company's development and the first collection in the new life of the brand

Starting in 2019, MODENATURE received a new path of development: it was decided to develop cooperation with Russian designers, whose collections are currently being released.
