Collection Historique is, as its name suggests, the result of a careful exploration of the history of a French furniture house founded in 1981. Its founder, designer Henry Berq, initially devoted himself to the decorative arts before developing a passion for antique furniture and cabinetmaking. This passion led him to study architecture and subsequently create his own furniture line.
In his creations, he developed his own interpretation of the Art Deco style, paying particular attention to the choice of materials and highlighting the richness of their textures within concise and pure forms.
In its contemporary interpretation, the Historique collection retains the key principles of this approach, particularly the visual emphasis on the lightness and clarity of its structures. At the same time, the collection has evolved towards natural, softer colour tones, incorporating tinted finishes as well as contemporary technologies and materials. Drawing on their knowledge and accumulated experience, the designers have given the original ideas and forms a contemporary character through careful and subtle refinements.
Thus renewed, the Historique collection has become a coherent and harmonious continuation of a historic creative process, creating an artistic connection between generations and between France and Russia.
