ANASTASIYA SHEVTSOVA

Anastasiya Shevtsova graduated from the National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” (MPEI), Department of Lighting Engineering, in 2014 with a Master’s degree. In 2022–2023, she completed a professional development course in Furniture Design at the British Higher School of Art and Design. It was within the framework of this course that she began working on a brief for MODENATURE. This collaboration resulted in the Inside collection — an ensemble of objects exploring the concept of “complex simplicity.”

“As a lighting designer, I attach particular importance to decorative lighting. It is not only about functionality, but also about self-perception, harmony, and creating a special atmosphere within a space,” says Anastasiya.

The collection created for MODENATURE became the next step in her creative journey.

“I had long wanted to move beyond lighting and develop myself as an object designer. This is what inspires me and sets images and meanings into motion, like a whirlwind. I am close to Bruno Munari’s idea: ‘A designer tries to create each object with the same naturalness with which nature shapes it, trying to remain objective and help the object form itself, so to speak.’”

Anastasiya is interested in experimenting with materials, exploring new techniques, and combining unexpected elements, following the approach of designers such as Paul Cocksedge. Her goal is to create objects that are not only functional, but also encourage reflection and emotional engagement.
