GAETAN D’HOTEL

For a long time, he worked on the New York Stock Exchange, but his family heritage prevailed, and creativity became stronger than entrepreneurship.

Gaetan’s grandfather, Pierre Counot Blandin, was the founder of the Pierre Counot Blandin brand and one of the figures who contributed to the emergence of the Art Deco style in France. He created furniture, designed interiors for transatlantic ocean liners, and was friends and collaborators with the leading figures of furniture design of his time: Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann, René Lalique, Jean-Michel Frank, and many others.

It was Pierre Counot Blandin who introduced Gaetan to John Hutton, one of the leading American designers and, at that time, the creative director of the Donghia brand. In 2004, Gaetan D’Hotel and John Hutton created the Collection Pierre brand, combining American aesthetics with the classical traditions of French cabinetmakers. One of the designers who later followed John Hutton in creating collections was the renowned designer Jean-Louis Deniot.

The archive accumulated over 80 years of existence of the Pierre Counot Blandin family manufactory was carefully studied by Gaetan D’Hotel and awakened in him an inner desire for creation and artistic expression. This led to the creation of his new furniture collection for MODENATURE, based on the heritage of French craftsmen.
